Description

A group of three Japanese blue and white Imari/Arita porcelain articles, dating to the Meiji Period. The lot comprises a large shallow charger, a medium plate, and a small fluted shallow bowl. All pieces are decorated with underglaze cobalt blue landscape scenes featuring gnarled trees, mountains, and water. The largest charger bears an apocryphal “????” (Dà Míng Xuandé, “Great Ming Xuande”) reign mark on its base. The smallest fluted bowl has a “??” (Koyo, “Old Kiln”) mark on its base and an interior inscription reading “?????? [??]” (Gaoshan shenchù youju [huàjia], “Deep in the high mountains, a secluded dwelling [by] the painter”). The medium plate exhibits no discernible base mark. Diameters are 12 1/4 inches, 10 3/4 inches, and 6 inches. Featuring hand-painted traditional landscape designs and marked bases. Various wear and some visible cracks noted.
