Description
Mid-century modern 1960s West German-made Sputnik-style weather hygrometer standing 7 3/4″ tall. Features a clear acrylic spherical body encasing dials measuring relative humidity (‘RELATIVE HYGRO’) and barometric pressure (marked ‘STORMY,’ ‘RAIN,’CHANGE,’ etc.). The structure incorporates brass detailing, including a mounted brass base with a black center disc and a green felt bottom for surface protection. The upper brass frame connects to a distinctive Sputnik-inspired design with protruding rods. Marked ‘West Germany’ on the hygrometer dial and ‘B.G.’ on the rear brass fitting. Some visible wear consistent with age, including light scuffing and patina. Functional status not tested.
